Apprendre le vocabulaire vocabulary

How to master supply chain vocabulary?

Tech vocabulary can be a little confusing. We’ve decided to decipher some recurring acronyms for you!

As you probably know, PrivaMap offers an outdoor guidance solution for truck drivers on the site. The indoor question arises frequently, particularly with existing systems, so here’s the vocabulary:

INDOOR POSITION :

BLE: Bluetooth Low Energy = Use and positioning of Bluetooth beacons that grid an entire area to position an IoT, which is triangularized directly via Bluetooth.

UWB: Ultra Wide Band = Technology using wide frequencies for communication or positioning of connected objects.

RTLS: Real Time Locating System = all solutions for positioning an object or person indoors or outdoors.

These are the kind of terms you hear a lot when you hear about PrivaMap:

IoT: Internet of Things:

The Internet of Things (IoT) is a network of physical devices, such as sensors, actuators (motors, hydraulic cylinders…), and other connected objects, which are integrated with communication technologies and IT systems to enable the collection, exchange, and analysis of data.

The aim is to facilitate advanced functionalities and ultimately achieve automated decision-making and intelligent interaction. IoT has applications in many fields, such as home automation, connected healthcare, infrastructure management, smart agriculture, smart cities, industry 4.0, and many others.

PWA: Progressive Web App :

A Progressive Web App (PWA) is a web application that combines the best features of mobile applications and websites. It offers an advanced user experience, similar to that of a native application, while being accessible via a web browser, without the need for prior installation. We can characterize PrivaMap as a PWA.

INDUSTRY 4.0 :

Industry 4.0, also known as the Fourth Industrial Revolution, refers to the digital and technological transformation of the manufacturing industry. It is based on integrating cutting-edge technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT), artificial intelligence (AI), robotics, augmented reality, additive manufacturing and data analytics.

The aim of Industry 4.0 is to create intelligent, connected and autonomous production environments capable of making real-time decisions and optimizing manufacturing processes. It aims to improve operational efficiency, flexibility, product quality and foster innovation.

SaaS : Software as a Solution

SaaS, or Software as a Service, is a service delivery model in which software is made available to users via the Internet. Rather than purchasing and installing the software locally on their own servers, users access the software from a Web browser and pay a recurring subscription fee for its use. Such is the case with PrivaMap!

There are 3 main advantages to choosing a SaaS solution:

  • Eliminate the need to purchase and manage costly hardware and software infrastructures
  • Flexibility in terms of scalability
  • Management of software maintenance and updates by the supplier, ensuring that users always benefit from the latest software version, security patches, and new features.
